That's Magenta, Not Pink
Just for your information
That’s magenta, not pink
And this is mauve
Didn’t you know
An artist is in the room
So please do not assume
You know your maroons
Because it may actually be burgundy
And try to not make a scene
About jade versus emerald green
They are not similar at all
To turquoise
Which is not teal
Are you for real!
Fawn, taupe or khaki
Blasphemy!
Look at the subtleties
The tone
The shade
The hue
Don’t give me the blues
Ultramarine, phthalo and Prussian
Has nothing to do with Russian
There is no need to curse my mother
Please proceed to your nearest art gallery
And brush up on your terminology
Before getting annoyed
There is a difference
Latte, tan, cream, beige or sand
Don’t raise your hands
If they tell you
That is more of a tangerine than orange
Surprise Surprise
That black is completely wrong
It’s too warm
It needs to be cool
Like we were in art school
For being able to make the distinction
Between titanium and zinc white
Why does it always seem like a fight
Telling somebody what is right
Should be wise
Take my professional advice
If you think that is pink
Listen up
You are missing out
On what life has to offer
The full spectrum of colours
Opens the door
A special kind of harmony
That speaks to the heart
Look
It might just be
You’re in a different kind of light
Or just lost in the dark
